How to Prepare for a Job Interview – Including by Phone and WhatsApp
Recruitment for physical jobs often takes place by phone or messenger and lasts just a few minutes. Good preparation allows you to show that you are a serious candidate within that time.
What Employers Usually Ask
When can you start? What experience do you have in a similar position? What certifications do you hold and are they valid? Do you have a driving license and a car? Can you work shifts and on weekends? How well do you know the language of the country you are traveling to?
Have Ready
Your CV, expiry dates of certifications, a calendar with the date you can start, and a notepad for taking notes.
Questions Worth Asking
What is the gross or net rate and for what period? How many hours per week does the schedule provide? Who provides accommodation and how much does it cost? What is the commute to work like? When and how often is payment made? Who will be my supervisor or coordinator on site? When will I receive the contract to read?
Interview via WhatsApp
Answer in full sentences, without abbreviations. If the employer asks for documents, send your CV but not scans of your ID – those should be provided when signing the contract.
After the Interview
Thank with a short message and confirm the arrangements in writing, e.g., “I confirm starting on November 3, the rate is 17 EUR gross per hour, accommodation 250 EUR monthly.” You can check the status of your application in the My Applications section.
